the steal of the week.

hearing aid: that country song about someone's girlfriend leaving him

have you heard a country song lately? actually most country songs are about the same, excluding the melody. they're usually about someone's dog getting shot, a guy whose girlfriend slept with his brother, and other really absurd ideas that in reality does happen (occasionally).

country music is pretty interesting, and if you think about it, it's a hell lotta fun to dance to. hana's telling me about what goes on in her hometown of 300 during late spring and summer. they have events called "On the Fly" (she's from Horsefly); carnivals, american pasar malams/flea markets, fresh produce from farms, plywood dance floors and a hometown country music ensemble to finish it off. sounds like fun yes? (:

lots of things happened to fall in feb.
for starters, the students' union named february Black History Month,
there was the total lunar eclipse (which would happen again in 2010),
the sorority formal (annual) - professional pictures are in the process of being ordered. it is absurdly priced; eg. 3R = $9! can you spell e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e? you can develop these pictures in SG for 30-45cents, and you're charging us C$9 here!? i am spelling o-u-c-h.
reading break,
midterms. bah.,
palestinean awareness week; students of the palestinean society dressed up and placed "checkpoints" around the school which involved maybe a bagcheck, a pat-down, and what they warned as "humiliation". participants of the awareness also carried bright neon plastic toy guns to simulate what their home country was like. they also sold these scarfs which had a black-and-white print.
and of course, there was valentine's day,
and friends' 19th birthdays and bashes,
and two pay-days! (:

AND, the purchasing of a new digi-cam! woohoo!

thanks jo. she advised me yesterday to purchase a cam. i wanted to borrow hers when i go to Horsefly in May. i did my research, read reviews online from consumers, and weighed the pros and cons. however, it all boiled down to my big brother ryan's advice on the type of cam i should get. you can read as many reviews as you want, but what usually seals the deal is when someone you know tells you the real deal.

ORIGINAL and (most importantly) SNAPPED BY VAL pictures coming your way. finally.

oh, i forgot to mention. it's a Canon Powershot SD1000. and it cost me a nice steal of C$215.
