long story short: i've been feeling like death for (what i think is) a week now. i missed my final exam on monday because i couldn't drag myself out of bed. in fact, i have lost all track of days and time. yesterday was my first day out on the town for like 3 hours and being tired for 2.5 hours of it. i have been a form of cut log, that doesn't move unless pushed, carried, or rolled along.
now the long story:
after falling sick on saturday night last week, i went to the doc on sunday (knowing i had an exam on monday). the doc, bright and all, told me that he couldn't tell what was wrong with me because "it's too early". his recommendation included me "going home to sleep because that's what (my) body wants to do", and coming back "after 7 days if i still feel the same".
i went home, crashed. and before i knew it, it was wednesday night(?). adal's been awesome, he came over everyday after work, and on his day off too, to take me out of bed and feed what was left of me. on thursday morning, john got back from the rigs. on thursday night, john brought me to the hospital.
and for the first time in my life, the docs got me into a gown and did a full body work up on me. one might think that it was precautionary measures for the H1N1 virus. honestly, i never once coughed or had the sniffles - so it really couldn't be the H1N1 virus.
after much poking and proding, the doc said that she believes i have mono. i looked at the list, and i have 99% of those symptoms. it IS contagious, only for a certain period. however, it is usually spread by kissing, bodily fluids, using the same utensils, and such and such. best way to "combat" mono is to wash your hands often. touching me/ hugging me is TOTALLY fine. just no kissing on the lips, of course.
what is mono?
EBV infectious mononucleosis, also known is kissing disease or affectionately known in North America as mono, is a common viral illness that can leave you feeling tired and weak for weeks or months. Most commonly occurs in adolescents and young adults. Mono goes away on its own, but lots of rest and good self-care can help you feel better. It is characterized by fever, sore throat and fatigue, along with several other possible signs and symptoms.
i am allowed to get on a plane, and i am already taking the antibiotics for the mono. i'm awaiting confirmation whether i have strep throat, which also sucks balls. anyhoo, i'm also a huge pill popper right now, so no i am not a druggie. don't fret when you hear the clackity clack of the pills in my bag when i walk by you.
i am however very tired all the time. i hear i'll feel better in a couple of weeks (maybe months, please God no), until then, it's lots of chilling sessions for me.
p.s.: i like to lie my head down on pillows a lot. (:
