caught Ron Howard's Angels and Demons yesterday with dee, rah, shane, fiz and nic. nic (who has read the book) says that they changed several (non-important) parts of the book, and omitted (possibly unnecessary) information. as a movie-goer, who did not read the book, it was very exciting. i was kept thoroughly entertained and would recommend others to catch it too. Tom Hanks does not (yay!) play the lead in the same stoic manner as he did in The Davinci Code. Ewan McGregor, as gorgeous as he is, does a fantastic job getting audiences to hope and leap and love his character (cue sighs from audience and waiting with baited breaths when he does his stuff). the female lead plays a significantly smaller role than most other lead women in other films.
other than that, i was more than happy to watch a movie with surround sound. theatres in calgary are kinda backward. seats are crappily thin and worn, the 2.1 sound system ever so often crackles and pops. i'm hoping to find a newly built and improved theatre when i go back in 9 days - which is admittedly not likely to happen.
singapore is... busier than i remember.
i walked into the malls/shopping centres to find the recession not anywhere in sight. people were scrambling for the latest deals (what with the ever Great Singapore Sale a few days away). i felt... firstly overwhelmed at the hoards of bodies. secondly very tired (mono doesn't help me in any way either).
oh! which reminds me, i am still searching for shoes to match my dress (to be worn to my brother's wedding, this sunday). i found a pair of Karen Millen's.
gorgeous.
karen millen collection. eye the blue.
indulgenceS$329 > 30% off > additional 10% with a UOB card (thank you mom!). at the end of the day, the shoes will come to approx the same price as my dress. no i haven't bought the ONLY pair they have that fits me like a snug. yet.
of course, blue dress, blue shoes... not so great. but if i did go with a pair of hot pink shoes (zara's), my brother would kill me. to think, there are 500,000 types of shoes being sold in singapore, AND i still can't find the perfect pair... i can only imagine what men think when they attempt to go shopping with us. :P
in canada, adal says that he's been feeling under the weather this week (potentially mono?). but he also said that if that is how mono hits him, he's thankful for his german engineering. i only pray that he feels better soon.
