rebecca's leaving for tanzania tomorrow. she's making this trip because it's her way of changing the world. she's inspired me to do somethings too; we'll leave that on the drawing board until i have some firmer plans. if you have any ideas, tell me and we could work something out.
so, rebecca's going-away party was held on saturday, and right off the bat let me apologise because my camera did not make the trip with me and therefore we are without pictorial evidence. (unlike soho's page which is fast full of dynamic shots of life down under. i'm loving the pictures btw soho!)
the party started at Seven (the bar&bistro) at eight (the time). we moved to whiskey (the club) on 10th (the street) and eventually ended up at MileOne (the bar) by 2ish (the time). if we did have cameras, it would've made your head spin. a fun-filled night of dancing, and laughing, and ladies all round the table - this night dedicated to rebecca is one to remember.
the lights came on, and people were filing out of the club
"are you here to chase us out?" says a wonderfully happy carla
"well. not really." says the bouncer
"really?" says lara
"really. and where are you ladies from?" asks the bouncer
"uofc if that says anything." says me
"are you here to chase us out?" says a wonderfully happy carla again. (: hahaa. (i love carla; she's a great lady i'm sure you all back home would love to meet too)
bouncer smiles and winks in my direction. i think he was looking at someone behind me, so i don't respond.
"okay, how are you getting home?" asks chelsea
> insert random conversations here.
bouncer leans over all the girls, and reaches out his hand to me, "hi."
"hi?" i shake his hand.
"what's your name?"
"valerie. and you?"
"___. how may i find you again?"
"come to the uofc and we'll do lunch."
"so, i'll just walk onto campus and yell your name and you'll be there?"
"yes she will be!" yells a happy carla. (i love carla. hahaa.)
"okay, carla, let's get you home." i take carla under my arm.
bouncer steps between us. "let me help you to the door. do you have your coats?"
"yeah, we're good. thanks." he gives us both a big hug before sending us out.
"you're talllll." says carla. (yeah, he's real tall, with a real gorgeous smile. i have a feeling you ladies back home would like him.)
no, we didn't exchange numbers. (don't stab me just yet).
someone once told me, that if there was someone out there who wanted us to meet again, we would. and on saturday night, i thought, i'd like to try that someone's theory out. no need for good lucks or best wishes, because lucky for me, i know where he works. haha. (:
walk with me.A: maybe not everyone would have this delightful opportunity, but let me just say, that if the attraction swings both ways, it makes for an absolutely charming experience. (:
a new addition to my room!

i haven't unpacked my luggage since landing back here in calgary. it may be my way to remembering the times in singapore/melbourne/hongkong. so, a few days ago, when i finally looked through my bags - i found my disco ball. i forgot i had packed it (:
