i caught
Dark Knight a few nights ago.
for starters, i knew that Heath Ledger was in the movie, but I did not know that he was playing the Joker. at the end of the film, Sam goes, 'wow, Heath Ledger was damn good la!" and I say, "what role was Heath playing?" that's when everyone stopped mid-convo to look at me and cock their heads, with the same thoughts running through their mind, and almost all wishing to stab me.
okay, now that i know it's Heath, i'm not sure if i'd be able to see the film or Joker in the same light. either way, the movie is definitely going into my original collection of dvd movies, along side Transporter, Transformers, Gladiator, 300, and Crash.
i know some people who've watched it had issues with Bruce Wayne's voice changing when he became Batman (and if you haven't watched it - all he does is make it lower and raspier.) i have absolutely no issues with it, and i like what the editors or Christian Bale did. the Batman series started as a darker and more sinister plot, and it was horrifically made into dreadful comedies as the sequels churned big bucks at the box offices. the return to this darker edge i think has brought back more fans to the series and has done a fantastic tribute to the original makers of it.
Heath Ledger was brilliant, and creepy, and hysterical. i loved every bit of this film, and i wouldn't change a thing.
though it was definitely a long 2+hour film, but it never dragged its ass. i've given it a 10/10, and highly recommend it to anyone over the age of 12.
