what a dramatic week.

friends break up
strangers fistfight
bestfriends fall out
partners lock lips
couples split
potentials hook up
handphones are smashed
people get smashed

i just got back from a house party, a trip to the east, and a would-be supper after half an hour in MOS.

the most recent drama i witnessed happened outside MOS - just.
boyfriend and girlfriend broke up yesterday. she is devastated and drunk. he did some drinking too. put it together, lots of screaming, fighting and throwing of personal belongings. add 10 friends and their extra commentary. he stormed off. she breaks down again.

i decide to head home and skip the supper with my friend (he's one of the 10 friends from above). on the way out, i see the boyfriend sitting by the roadside.
'hi ___ ?' he turns around. he doesn't know me. 'i'm valerie. you don't know me, it's okay. i saw what happened just now. it didn't go too well.'
he grunts in agreement. 'can i sit down?' i gesture to the open seat by the road next to him. he nods. 'i'm not from their group. but i just want you to know that she wants to talk to you. would you be willing to listen?'
'i went over cos i wanted to send her home.'
'well, she wants to talk to you. and she might not say the nicest of things, but would you listen anyway?'
he doesn't reply, and lets his head hang down low.
'are you okay?' i ask. he was kinda surprised i asked that question actually.
'yeah.'

'can i know why you guys didn't work out?' let me remind you that i'm a total stranger to him.
'she said she's leaving the country.'
'oh? so, is she?'
'she said she was. now i don't know.'
then the boys come along and persuade ___ to talk to her.
they say, 'she wants to talk to you. just in one ear and out the other okay? you know what girls are like when they're drunk. just listen and our priority to get her home okay? you can talk it out tomorrow, but first let's get her home okay?'
___ agrees.
i take my leave. 'bye dre.' i know the guys on her side of the camp, i don't know her though. 'see you soon val.'

it made me wonder; if i had a boyfriend and i was leaving for canada. would our conversation go something like this?
'hey. i'm going overseas to study.'
'oh that's great. when will you be back?'
'that's the thing. i'm not sure. mum's talking about selling the house and migrating.'
'okay, let's break up then.'
'WHAT?'
'you're not gonna be around. so we might as well split right?'
'right. absolutely.' ass.

(: i have no idea what i would do if i had to leave my boy behind. the trend lately is to keep the girl and see other potentials while their girl is out of town. and if you get caught, tell your girl that it was just a friend, and there's nothing to worry about.

i'm single and am appreciating it more everyday.

like i said, what a dramatic week.
